JAC Games
1101 West Portage Trail
Mon 3 p.m.-8 p.m., Tues 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.,Wed 3 p.m.-8 p.m., Thu 3 p.m.-8 p.m., Fri 3 p.m.-10 p.m., Sat 2 p.m.-10 p.m., Sun 2 p.m.-9 p.m.

The first time I entered JAC Games I wandered around for at least ten minutes before being noticed. It wasn’t because it was noisy or I was difficult to see, but because everyone in the store was hunched over a large gaming table, quietly and intensely analyzing the small figures that had been placed among the intricately designed terrain.

This isn’t Monopoly or even Risk, it’s Warhammer 40,000, a complicated, yet highly addictive game that uses miniature figures on a hand-made playing field.  Games like these have a lot of stereotypes attached to them, but they are a lot of fun and a great way to spend time with friends or make new ones.

And that’s what I think is cool about JAC Games, it’s not just a shop, it’s also place to meet people, try out new stuff and get creative with a whole universe of games. If there’s a game you don’t know how to play (they have a lot more than just Warhammer), they will show you how and if you are looking for a place to gather, you are welcome to do so for free.

Just as a tip, JAC Games is really easy to pass. West Portage Trail is a very steep hill, so when you get close to the entrance of Timber Top apartments you need to slow down!
